Another gorgeous day here in Salem! I got up a little late, but I was a whirling dervish after that cooking, cleaning, doing "house" stuff. You know, I never gave much thought to what a whirling dervish really is...even though I use the term all the time. So, I looked it up.
Whirling Dervish (wurl-ing dur-vish) n. 1. A mystical
dancer who stands between the material and cosmic
worlds. His dance is part of a sacred ceremony
in which the dervish rotates in a precise rhythm.
He represents the earth revolving on its axis while
orbiting the sun. The purpose of the ritual whirling
is for the dervish to empty himself of all distracting
thoughts, placing him in trance; released from
his body he conquers dizziness.
So, that was sort of me today. I am surely having a craving for Mexican food, even though I was a dervish, because I made grilled chicken, peppers, onions and taco meat. And, I REALLY wanted a margarita. So, I brought out a bottle of tequila that has NEVER been opened in all these last 8 years, got out the OJ, a lime and I dug through my pantry, found some diet lemonade mix. Can I just say that is one darn good margarita!
Recipe for the "Pantry Margarita"1 glass full of ice
1 full jigger of GOOD tequila (I had Sauza Anejo) It is dark and delicious.
1-2 full splashes of good orange juice
1 lime quartered, squeezed
Fill with lemonade...I had Crystal Light regular....it works well.
Maybe it's not a true margarita to purists, but it's good whatever it is!
