Remember when you were a kid, and you stayed in the bubble bath for so long that your fingers and toes looked like prunes?

....well, that's how I'm starting to feel with all this rain we've been having! I guess on the bright side, it's a good thing it's not SNOW. The snow shovel is STILL on the glider instead of up against the house. So far, it has thwarted off any flakes, but it seems it is a magnet for drops...I might have to rethink it's positioning after this storm clears.

It's IDOL night...I hope Siobhan doesn't scream tonight...I love her, but she doesn't "hit the note" as Adam did.

A beautiful day, but too darn cold to go out and play! After last night's "sleep-a-thon" and today's being in with the cat, I'm GETTIN' OUTTA HEAH tomorrow or ELSE!

I know I said I would have some stories to tell over the weekend, but so far all I've done is cook and clean, and watch the sprouts grow in my herb planter...I didn't even have a drink of any kind on Friday night! What the hell?!

I have the fixin's for a margarita, but it feels too chilly for that, so it's going to be red wine and I'm thinking, "Mexican pizza". "The Madness of King George" is on PBS tonight. Perhaps I should watch it for any clues in my behavior! What a wonderful movie!

Watched "Sex in the Civil War"...holy cow!

We've been blessed with pretty good weather this week...snowflakes on the agenda for in the morning, but not many of them!

I've been a "good girl" all week! I did my workout every day, nothing "toxic" in my body...but, my will is weak, and I NEED a glass of wine!...so, I'm gonna have one. :)

I'm still trying to absorb the last "LOST" episode (so good!),

and figure out what the heck these folks on "American Idol" are thinking with regard to song choice. REALLY??..."Against All Odds"???

Other than that, my week has been pretty boring. Hopefully I'll have some "stories" for ya'll on the weekend!

Another gorgeous day here in Salem! I got up a little late, but I was a whirling dervish after that cooking, cleaning, doing "house" stuff. You know, I never gave much thought to what a whirling dervish really is...even though I use the term all the time. So, I looked it up.

Whirling Dervish (wurl-ing dur-vish) n. 1. A mystical
dancer who stands between the material and cosmic
worlds. His dance is part of a sacred ceremony
in which the dervish rotates in a precise rhythm.
He represents the earth revolving on its axis while
orbiting the sun. The purpose of the ritual whirling
is for the dervish to empty himself of all distracting
thoughts, placing him in trance; released from
his body he conquers dizziness.

So, that was sort of me today. I am surely having a craving for Mexican food, even though I was a dervish, because I made grilled chicken, peppers, onions and taco meat. And, I REALLY wanted a margarita. So, I brought out a bottle of tequila that has NEVER been opened in all these last 8 years, got out the OJ, a lime and I dug through my pantry, found some diet lemonade mix. Can I just say that is one darn good margarita!

Recipe for the "Pantry Margarita"
1 glass full of ice
1 full jigger of GOOD tequila (I had Sauza Anejo) It is dark and delicious.
1-2 full splashes of good orange juice
1 lime quartered, squeezed
Fill with lemonade...I had Crystal Light regular....it works well.

Maybe it's not a true margarita to purists, but it's good whatever it is!

I took the day off today, and it's a GLORIOUS day here in Salem! The birds are chirping, the sun is shining, the forecast calls for temps in the upper 60's...a beautiful spring day! I've been up and out already...got my teeth cleaned...getting ready to go grocery shopping...going out for shrimp tonight! Life is good!

I guess I should do some cleaning, but that's going to have to wait for tomorrow!...today, is shopping and having fun!

...and as far as that "diet" is concerned....out the window! There was a lady in the grocery store demonstrating butter and milk, from a small farm in the Berkshires...did I say it was CHOCOLATE milk??? It tasted like a delicious, creamy melted bowl of chocolate ice cream. ...I didn't want to hurt her feelings...so I had to buy some. :)

Happy St. Patrick's Day to all my Irish friends, and those wannabe Irish friends as well! And, I guess Happy Birthday to me! Fairly uneventful day, but I got an ADORABLE little herb pot from my friend, Karen, and a great bottle of wine...I cried...I love gifts like that!

The office got me an awesome pink frosted cake from Coffee Time...it was like a BARBIE cake!...it was some of the best yellow cake I've ever eaten!

I had many offers to go out and drink with the "amateurs" tonight, but staying in sounded better. So, I potted my little herb seeds, basil, parsley and cilantro and cracked open the wine...yes, that's MUCH better.

Well, the rain has passed, and we had a BEAUTIFUL day here in Salem! I've been bitten by the "spring cleaning bug"! I got home from work, "turned on the windows" and did numerous chores around the house.

I got a wonderful gift basket for helping out with the Rotary Auction. Thank you David and Denise! I also received my copy of "The Pioneer Woman Cooks" cookbook today...it's almost like..well, my birthday or something! ;)

Monday, March 15, 2010

Well, I survived the weekend of living as a hermit, and I didn't go after the cat with an ax or anything...although he was starting to get on my nerves! It was almost a blessing to be at work...talking to real live humans!

HOWEVER, it was BRUTAL getting out of bed this morning. I'm not quite sold on daylight savings time starting so early. Especially when it is cold, and dark in the morning. And ESPECIALLY when it's been raining for 3 straight days, and the only thing I see in all this "extra" daylight in the evening is rain...and more RAIN.

Luckily, the rest of the week looks like there will be some marvelous weather in store. I'm off on Friday (for my birthday)...but, there's that pesky dentist appointment in the morning. Would it be possible for me to take just ONE day off and NOT have some sort of "maintenance" planned???
Beware the Ides of March...that is, if you are Julius Caesar.
Otherwise, we just generally say it, and figure it's significant...and beware it!

That being said, I'm going to watch my back, just in case.
So, not to be annoying or anything...but how often does one post on these things?...because, I'm ALWAYS posting on Facebook. So, I'm thinking, this should be more "cordial"..and not as frequent. :)

Therefore, I will continue to randomly post my comings and goings on FB with regard to my food feed and life occurrences. And this, will be my glorious and beautiful place...LOL!

Well, now isn't this special?! I didn't know I could actually have my own little website world...and talk to myself, and post what I cook and do! Who would've thunk?!

Welcome to Tigg's blog...a space for funny quips, good recipes and wanderings of the mind...feel free to come in and put your feet up, but be sure and put your drink on a coaster...these are antiques, mind you!! :) lol!!
