Thanks to Senor Peep....Here's my philosophy in life. Never marry a man until until you've danced, fought and been drunk together...if you happen to move furniture together...you're ahead of the game. Toilet seat down...we use it for 2, you use it for 1...we win that democratically...yes, I will bring you a beer, when I am getting one, and will gladly do so...I LOVE ALL SPORTS... (okay...Lisa does)...BUT, I'm going to watch American Idol at some point....
I love your mom, and your family, but no more than you do mine....
I hate when you snore and hog the sheets...but, I still think you're cute...as long as you don't complain about my Edward Scissorhands hair when I wake up in the morning.....otherwise...you are cut off...
I'll steal beer glasses for you...but, they're mine if we break up
I'm not giving up onions, peppers, mushrooms or cheese for you...
I'll do a 10 mile walk.
I pray every day.
I <3 my friends
Life is good.

Soooo...it's been a long dry spell here on the Tigg blog, hasn't it? Well, hermit season is upon us, and I now have some time to sit and bore all of you with my rantings, ravings and otherwise semi-amusing stories.
Today for instance...on at least 3 occasions the people in front of me in traffic, that were already HALF WAY THROUGH the turn at the light decided to put on their turn signal. Now, why is that? You're already turning...we see that... Is it because you now feel guilty that you didn't do it beforehand?...Do you think you might get a TICKET for NOT doing it beforehand??? That's my rant.
My rave? I just might have to ditch my Funky for this Barefoot stuff!...pretty darn good...helps me deal with the YOWLING cat with which I live...and, being a hermit, it is a required element to the hut. Special occasions get the Stephen Vincent.
Semi-amusing...hmmm....still working on that one...but, the night is young! Had I gone out for DWN (those of you that know, know what I'm talking about), I might have a story.
Well, I'm starting to think of the holidays...what to make for Thanksgiving this year...you know, all the food I make for the army that never arrives...oh well...maybe this year...

OBVIOUSLY I have been neglecting my blog...I'm sure that I'm not the only one that does that. With the exception of a few, most folks start one of these things, and then just forget about it. I mean, "blog" is such an ugly word. Why can't these things be called something more enticing...like...winechocs, or sexsuns or moneyfoods??? I mean, BLOG?! Who came up with that?...some man, I'm sure....matter of fact, this is the dude...looked it up later...was I right? or WHAT?
At any rate, it's been a long, stressful 3 weeks or so here in Tigg Land. Sadly, my brother lost his battle with colon cancer, and that necessitated a trip down to Houston. Honestly, I dreaded the trip. I am EXTREMELY claustrophobic. I don't do well on airplanes...kind of like someone is putting a piece of Saran Wrap across my face. The flying part doesn't bother me...but all those people in that small space...MY SPACE...freaks me out. Many years ago a nurse friend of my told me to take a Benadryl and a bottle of frozen water. Well, that worked GREAT until something called "9/11"....GREAT... At any rate, after 8 long years, I HAD to bite the bullet and get on the plane...Benadryl, all cut into halves (1 1/2 does the 3 1/2 non-stop flight)...ICE from the terminal kiosks...Lisa is ALL SET. Anyway, the flight turned out well (partly thanks to that lady sitting beside me praying during take off and landing!), and now I'm planning my "Annual Trip to Houston" event...the 3rd week of April...each year...if the funds are there...and I feel like it....and there's no halt on Benadryl manufacturing.
So, whirling is back....planted a multitude of containers this evening...small or large, it's still the same pain....I looked like a damn street woman when I was done...dirt under my nails, sweaty and some MAJOR ugly hair....that's why I treated myself to a pantry margarita for a snack, and then a ribeye, salad and some cabernet. I love cooking with herbs and having them around makes me pretty happy. I used to have to tend an acre or two, so 7 pots shouldn't be that big of a problem...I'll post my mini herb garden tomorrow.
Posted some Tom Jones videos on Facebook...don't care what anyone says, that man was hot back in the day....why, why, why Delilah? lol!

It was a pretty uneventful week. I didn't "twirl" too much and basically tried to figure out what to do with all that food I cooked last weekend!
So, of course it's Friday, and once again...it's raining! That just bodes for more cooking!
(well, as much as I am "wild and crazy" these days) or just stay and home and veg. Tonight is a definite "veg" night, as the warm and sunny weather has been replaced by a typical New England cold and rainy night. I take the good with the bad.
Sometimes, it's good to just sip a glass of wine, have some pizza, play a few games, chat with friends and watch the cat sleep.

Hmmm...seems I have a visitor...I wonder what he's doing here?? Maybe he's looking for cake?

ORANGE ICING:
2 Tbs. unsalted butter
2 tsp. orange juice

You know those horror movies, where the guy jumps up out of the back seat of the car and "does in" the driver?...HONESTLY. Have you ever NOT got into your car, and peered into the backseat? Don't you think you would NOTICE a PERSON back there??
That being said...I had a wonderful evening...with 2 great friends! They are better conversationalists than I, so I just relaxed (a bit too much, perhaps) and enjoyed it!...hmm..a British NY Yankees fan...a NW Louisianan Red Sox fan...and me. I love my life!

Remember when you were a kid, and you stayed in the bubble bath for so long that your fingers and toes looked like prunes?
....well, that's how I'm starting to feel with all this rain we've been having! I guess on the bright side, it's a good thing it's not SNOW. The snow shovel is STILL on the glider instead of up against the house. So far, it has thwarted off any flakes, but it seems it is a magnet for drops...I might have to rethink it's positioning after this storm clears.
It's IDOL night...I hope Siobhan doesn't scream tonight...I love her, but she doesn't "hit the note" as Adam did.

A beautiful day, but too darn cold to go out and play! After last night's "sleep-a-thon" and today's being in with the cat, I'm GETTIN' OUTTA HEAH tomorrow or ELSE!
I know I said I would have some stories to tell over the weekend, but so far all I've done is cook and clean, and watch the sprouts grow in my herb planter...I didn't even have a drink of any kind on Friday night! What the hell?!
I have the fixin's for a margarita, but it feels too chilly for that, so it's going to be red wine and I'm thinking, "Mexican pizza". "The Madness of King George" is on PBS tonight. Perhaps I should watch it for any clues in my behavior! What a wonderful movie!
Watched "Sex in the Civil War"...holy cow!

We've been blessed with pretty good weather this week...snowflakes on the agenda for in the morning, but not many of them!
I've been a "good girl" all week! I did my workout every day, nothing "toxic" in my body...but, my will is weak, and I NEED a glass of wine!...so, I'm gonna have one. :)
I'm still trying to absorb the last "LOST" episode (so good!),
and figure out what the heck these folks on "American Idol" are thinking with regard to song choice. REALLY??..."Against All Odds"???
Other than that, my week has been pretty boring. Hopefully I'll have some "stories" for ya'll on the weekend!

Another gorgeous day here in Salem! I got up a little late, but I was a whirling dervish after that cooking, cleaning, doing "house" stuff. You know, I never gave much thought to what a whirling dervish really is...even though I use the term all the time. So, I looked it up.
Whirling Dervish (wurl-ing dur-vish) n. 1. A mystical
dancer who stands between the material and cosmic
worlds. His dance is part of a sacred ceremony
in which the dervish rotates in a precise rhythm.
He represents the earth revolving on its axis while
orbiting the sun. The purpose of the ritual whirling
is for the dervish to empty himself of all distracting
thoughts, placing him in trance; released from
his body he conquers dizziness.
So, that was sort of me today. I am surely having a craving for Mexican food, even though I was a dervish, because I made grilled chicken, peppers, onions and taco meat. And, I REALLY wanted a margarita. So, I brought out a bottle of tequila that has NEVER been opened in all these last 8 years, got out the OJ, a lime and I dug through my pantry, found some diet lemonade mix. Can I just say that is one darn good margarita!
Recipe for the "Pantry Margarita"
1 glass full of ice
1 full jigger of GOOD tequila (I had Sauza Anejo) It is dark and delicious.
1-2 full splashes of good orange juice
1 lime quartered, squeezed
Fill with lemonade...I had Crystal Light regular....it works well.
Maybe it's not a true margarita to purists, but it's good whatever it is!

I took the day off today, and it's a GLORIOUS day here in Salem! The birds are chirping, the sun is shining, the forecast calls for temps in the upper 60's...a beautiful spring day! I've been up and out already...got my teeth cleaned...getting ready to go grocery shopping...going out for shrimp tonight! Life is good!
I guess I should do some cleaning, but that's going to have to wait for tomorrow!...today, is shopping and having fun!
...and as far as that "diet" is concerned....out the window! There was a lady in the grocery store demonstrating butter and milk, from a small farm in the Berkshires...did I say it was CHOCOLATE milk??? It tasted like a delicious, creamy melted bowl of chocolate ice cream. ...I didn't want to hurt her feelings...so I had to buy some. :)

Happy St. Patrick's Day to all my Irish friends, and those wannabe Irish friends as well! And, I guess Happy Birthday to me! Fairly uneventful day, but I got an ADORABLE little herb pot from my friend, Karen, and a great bottle of wine...I cried...I love gifts like that!
The office got me an awesome pink frosted cake from Coffee Time...it was like a BARBIE cake!...it was some of the best yellow cake I've ever eaten!
I had many offers to go out and drink with the "amateurs" tonight, but staying in sounded better. So, I potted my little herb seeds, basil, parsley and cilantro and cracked open the wine...yes, that's MUCH better.

Well, the rain has passed, and we had a BEAUTIFUL day here in Salem! I've been bitten by the "spring cleaning bug"! I got home from work, "turned on the windows" and did numerous chores around the house.
I got a wonderful gift basket for helping out with the Rotary Auction. Thank you David and Denise! I also received my copy of "The Pioneer Woman Cooks" cookbook today...it's almost like..well, my birthday or something! ;)

Well, I survived the weekend of living as a hermit, and I didn't go after the cat with an ax or anything...although he was starting to get on my nerves! It was almost a blessing to be at work...talking to real live humans!
HOWEVER, it was BRUTAL getting out of bed this morning. I'm not quite sold on daylight savings time starting so early. Especially when it is cold, and dark in the morning. And ESPECIALLY when it's been raining for 3 straight days, and the only thing I see in all this "extra" daylight in the evening is rain...and more RAIN.
Luckily, the rest of the week looks like there will be some marvelous weather in store. I'm off on Friday (for my birthday)...but, there's that pesky dentist appointment in the morning. Would it be possible for me to take just ONE day off and NOT have some sort of "maintenance" planned???

So, not to be annoying or anything...but how often does one post on these things?...because, I'm ALWAYS posting on Facebook. So, I'm thinking, this should be more "cordial"..and not as frequent. :)
Therefore, I will continue to randomly post my comings and goings on FB with regard to my food feed and life occurrences. And this, will be my glorious and beautiful place...LOL!

Well, now isn't this special?! I didn't know I could actually have my own little website world...and talk to myself, and post what I cook and do! Who would've thunk?!
Welcome to Tigg's blog...a space for funny quips, good recipes and wanderings of the mind...feel free to come in and put your feet up, but be sure and put your drink on a coaster...these are antiques, mind you!! :) lol!!
